Germany–Turkey Air Ambulance and Patient Transfer

A patient transfer from Germany to Turkey, or from Turkey to Germany, requires more than booking a flight. The current medical assessment, receiving hospital, ground ambulance connections and travel documents all form part of the plan. When contacting MEK JET, identify the current hospital, intended receiving hospital and preferred transfer date.

A check for your particular itinerary

For Germany–Turkey transfers, align information between the sending hospital, flight coordinator and receiving department. Identify who follows up document requests. If a companion travels separately, plan the meeting and onward hospital journey in Turkey separately from the patient’s medical handover.

How is the transfer planned?

  1. Case and route information: A current medical summary, departure city, destination and timing establish the initial request.
  2. Transfer assessment: The relevant medical teams assess the support needed during the journey and the appropriate transport option.
  3. Hospital acceptance: The receiving department, bed arrangements and handover time are confirmed.
  4. Flight and ground legs: Airports, aircraft availability, permits and ground ambulance connections in both countries are coordinated.
  5. Written scope and confirmation: The inclusions, companion capacity, payment responsibility and change conditions are clarified.

Planning from Berlin, Frankfurt, Munich and other cities

For requests involving Berlin, Frankfurt, Munich, Hamburg, Cologne or Stuttgart, a city name alone is not enough. The hospital’s location, road access to the proposed airport and operational conditions need assessment. The nearest airport is not automatically the most suitable. Listing these cities does not indicate that an aircraft or permanent MEK JET base is stationed in each one; aircraft and local service availability are confirmed for the individual request.

The receiving hospital’s address and handover department in Turkey also need to be clear. The ground ambulance journey after landing should be explicitly included in the plan rather than assumed.

Which documents should be prepared?

Prepare a recent medical summary, any further information requested for assessment, patient and companion travel documents, and receiving-hospital contacts. Passport and entry requirements depend on nationality and individual circumstances; current requirements should be verified with the relevant authorities and carrier. Our medical transfer documents guide explains the preparation process.

Air ambulance or commercial flight?

A dedicated air ambulance and a commercial-flight patient transfer are different planning options. A medical escort or commercial-flight stretcher arrangement depends on the clinical assessment, airline acceptance and capacity on the specific service. Read the transport options comparison for the main distinctions.

What should the quotation specify?

Ask about aircraft positioning, medical personnel and equipment, ground ambulances in both countries, companions and waiting-time allowances. Compare proposals with identical start and end points. If an insurer or assistance company is involved, clarify payment approval separately. Our air ambulance cost guide lists the relevant components.

Frequently asked questions

Can a same-day departure be confirmed?

A departure time cannot be finalized before the medical assessment, aircraft and team availability, receiving-hospital acceptance and operational approvals have been checked.

Can a companion travel with the patient?

Companion capacity depends on the cabin configuration and case requirements. Mention the requested number when making the initial enquiry.
