What affects the cost of a helicopter charter?
- Route and flight time: Departure, destination and intermediate stops shape the flight plan. Specify whether the request is one-way, a same-day return or a return on another date.
- Aircraft positioning: The helicopter may need to fly from another location to collect the passengers and return to base afterwards. Ask whether these flights are included in the proposal.
- Passengers, baggage and aircraft suitability: Seating is only part of the assessment. Baggage dimensions and weight also matter. Aircraft selection is considered alongside the route and operational requirements.
- Landing location and ground services: Airport or heliport use, the relevant permissions and ground-service scope need to be clarified. Landing at a requested address must not be assumed.

Before comparing hourly rates, check that the proposals cover the same services. One quotation may include positioning, waiting and ground services while another lists them as additional costs. Request the total price, currency, tax treatment and exclusions in writing. Ask how chargeable flight time is calculated and whether a minimum charge applies. A lower headline rate does not necessarily mean a lower total journey cost.
